There is a massive number of HR tech vendors globally but a lot of their platforms don't communicate with each other. Most companies have anything up to nine different platforms for different things so it is important to unify these systems and get them to communicate with each other. Lars Schmidt, founder of Amplify and co-founder of HR Open Source, explains the importance of unifying systems.
Lars Schmidt: "Well, I think that that’s a very real component of HR and recruiting right now, so we’ve got, I think there’s over 24,000 (the statistic was mentioned a few months ago), there’s 24,000 HR tech vendors globally and think about that, that’s just a massive number and the amount of capital coming into the space is huge, so you look at the expo floor and you’ve got new start-ups coming all the time, like literally every week there’s new things to learn and so natively a lot of these platforms don’t communicate with each other and so you have to build customer integrations and the HR tech stack in most modern organizations has seven, eight, nine different systems in place to achieve different things.
And so I think the real challenge and opportunity for this space is figure out how you can get these systems communicating with each other more seamlessly. So, from an end user perspective, from an HR recruiting practitioner, I can get in, I can quickly use them to get the things that I need and then I can get on to my work."
